First day of SUNYACs yield positive resultsPublished by
BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Nick Abdo turned in a pair of top four finishes as the Fredonia State Track and Field team competed at the SUNYAC Championships hosted at Brockport on Friday. Abdo fourth in the 60m dash in 7.03. The top four competitors finished within .05 seconds, with the winning time of 6.98 being turned in by Plattsburgh's Brexton Montville. Abdo was second in the 200m. His time of 22.44 was 0.37 seconds behind Lance Jenson of Geneseo, who crossed in 22.07. Freshman Nick Marsowicz finished 16th in the same event in a time of 23.35 seconds. Abdo had qualified for the Regional Meet earlier in the season, and solidified his standing. The men's distance Medley relay - Sam Cottrell, Toby Onuoha, Josh Walters, and Sembel Koshi -- finished third and qualified for the Regional Meet with a time of 10:39.29. Patrick Klinger was 11th in 5000m in 15:32.41. He was just shy of qualifying for the Regional. Marsowicz was 11th in the 400m in 51.54. Onuoha finished eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 13.31 (43' 8''). Cameron Sample was 15th with a distance of 12.40 (40' 8 1/4''). Ethan Pocock and Chris Gualtieri pole vault.
